
On October 27, at the invitation of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), a 23-member delegation of trade union leaders from the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) and Portuguese-speaking African countries, headed by OATUU Secretary-General Arezki Mezhoud, visited CULR for exchanges and discussions. Zhao Changjiu, Deputy Director-General of the International Liaison Department of the ACFTU, accompanied the delegation. CULR President Fu Deyin and Vice President Li Ke met with the visiting delegation. Relevant personnel-in-charge from the School of Labor Union, School of Trade Union Cadres Training, and Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, as well as faculty representatives from the School of Labor Relations and Human Resources and the School of Public Administration and Policy, attended the exchange activities.

On behalf of CULR, President Fu Deyin extended a warm welcome to Secretary-General Arezki Mezhoud and his entourage. He reviewed the university's history and distinctive characteristics as a higher education institution directly affiliated with the ACFTU, briefed the delegation on its achievements in discipline development, talent cultivation and trade union cadre training, as well as its vision of building a first-class university with distinctive features. He noted that years of exchanges and cooperation between the university and African trade unions have forged a profound friendship. With the support of the ACFTU, the university stands ready to work hand in hand with African trade union colleagues to continue deepening cooperation in trade union cadre training, social security, digital and intelligent transformation of trade unions, and comparative studies on trade unions. The two sides will jointly explore trade union work models and theoretical systems that meet the requirements of the new era, and continuously inject new impetus into the building of the China-Africa community with a shared future.

Arezki Mezhoud expressed his gratitude for CULR's warm hospitality. He noted that since its founding in 1973, OATUU has been the largest trade union organization on the African continent, and has long maintained sound relations and carried out multi-field cooperation with Chinese trade unions. This visit to CULR is of great significance, as it aims to learn from China's valuable experience in labor relations and trade union development. Against the backdrop of profound changes in the global labor landscape, he stressed, such experience are crucial to improving labor relations across the African continent. He expressed the hope to strengthen cooperation with the ACFTU and CULR in the days ahead, continuously expand exchanges and cooperation in the labor field, and elevate friendly and cooperative relations to a new level.


In the discussion session, participants exchanged views on trade union cadre training, social security, trade union talent cultivation, digital transformation of trade unions and other topics.


During the visit, the delegation visited the university's history museum and toured the campus.

Founded in 1973, the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU) is the largest and most representative regional trade union federation in Africa. Its members include national trade union federations from more than 50 African countries, representing tens of millions of African workers. OATUU and ACFTU enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship, and OATUU is an important reliable partner the ACFTU.
